Cheryl King - Executive DirectorFor Cheryl, everyday at Carriage Oaks is a new experience. She opened the community in August of 1999 and continues to oversee the day-to-day operations, supporting residents through thick and thin and even cooking her secret family recipe for the annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser. With over 30 years of aging services experience, Cheryl is a gem with residents and families readily singing her praises! “Working with our residents is a joy where every day, everyone is grateful for all we do for our people. My vision has always been to create a home for residents that they’ll enjoy, have interests to pursue each day and a shoulder to lean on when needed. We’ve developed a real sense of team work between staff and residents, just like a family, we all contribute so everyone feels safe, happy, secure and has what they need. This is truly one of the unique factors about Carriage Oaks. I always tell people who are looking at senior living options to carefully consider the size of a community to find the best fit. We are large enough for variety and choices, but small enough that everyone knows each other.”

 

Denise Higgins: Administrative Assistant

Denise Higgins - Administrative AssistantAs you walk into the office at Carriage Oaks, you’ll recognize Denise Higgins by her bright friendly smile and warm welcome. Denise became part of the Carriage Oaks family soon after it opened in 1999 and has been an integral part of its reputation for outstanding staff and service. “I love the people and the wide variety of responsibilities I have here at Carriage Oaks. I do everything from helping a resident take off her earrings and driving someone to a doctor’s appointment to helping with our special events or lending a listening ear. I’m the kind of person who likes to jump in and do whatever needs to be done. We have a unique atmosphere in our community. It is very friendly, upbeat and we function like a caring family.”

 

Denny King: Maintenance Supervisor

Denny King - Maintenance AssistantDenny brings a myriad of skills and experience to complement the team since starting in July 2010. Denny has been a carpenter, general contractor and home builder, custom staircase builder and most recently, a certified home inspector. “This is a fantastic place with fantastic people! Whether it’s helping someone move seasonal items from their storage area to driving them to the grocery store or fixing an appliance in their apartment – I treat them like they are my own parents. My mother is in a skilled nursing center and I’d like to think I treat our residents like I’d want someone to treat her. It’s more about customer service than caring for a building – people come first!”
